2nd Powerlet Port for R1200RT LC?

Post by ppalac »

Curious - has anyone added/installed a 2nd Powerlet accessory power port on their R1200RT LC?

I'd like to have another port but not entirely sure where it would go.  Also have some hesitation on drilling any new holes.  :-\

Some come with two.  If you only have one you will probably find a blank on the left side of the bike under the grab handle just in front of the rear light.
All you need to do is  buy the socket with its cover.

Thanks ALL.  It appears that I do have the 2nd outlet.  I never noticed it before.

Dont want to be picky but, correct socket, wrong bike.  Looks like one if them old air cooled things but the rack looks a bit wrong.

RTman10 don't you go concerning yourself with being picky: the master may correct the apprentice at any time during training.

I never used the first one until I just got a Powerlet>USB adapter to plug my phone charger in to.  Not sure how I managed without this before.  Don't have to worry about charging before I go.  I can stream tunes and GPS all day long now without fear of running out of juice.

Does anybody know if that second powerlet outlet independent of the CAN Bus?  I had a second one installed for my 14 GSLC, and it was independent of the Can Bus which gave me the ability to use the full battery power to operate such things as Gerbing jacket and my tire pump in case of a flat tire.  I need to get this installed on my RT if the second outlet is wired into Can bus.

Second one is still Linbus like the front one.  You could always bypass the proper connection and go directly to the battery though.  I did that in an 09 RT.
