Just had my 6000 mile service done on my 2014 RT - £196 at BMW dealer.

Also replaced clutch and water pump, and fixed pannier lock under warranty!!

6000 Mile service

Post by UKkid »

Hi
Does anyone have the scheduled service for the new RT? I'm in Canada and they say they need to do the brake fluid at the 6000mile (10000km) service.  Seems a bit early to me? And they also want close to $500, so £250.00 at the current exchange.

Brake fluid change is correct.  Then its every 2 years or 12000 miles. Price also seems about right but it does vary between dealers.

According to my BMW workshop manual brake fluid change is time dependent not mileage dependent. The fluid should be changed after the first year and then every two years.

I took the bike to the dealer in Asheville NC (Eurosports BMW) today to do the 6000 mile service. I did not want to do it on the road while on vacation . They changed the break fluid and did all the other things associated with the 6000 service except for the oil and final drive that i had already completed. They did a computer upgrade that is supposed to help the shifting.

Rear brakes and tires are fine after 9100 miles.
Cost for the service was $121.00. I thought that very reasonable. They are a great bunch to do business with.

Had a great ride over there by way of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The ride home sucked, torrential rain for two hours.

Just got back from a visit out to the Asheville, North Carolina area and made a stop by Eurosports BMW too.  Also got a get a ride out to Deals Gap.

When I got home I clocked 6000 miles and took it into the local dealer for the standard service.  Bill for service was $316.  Covered 2 HRS of labor and materials.  $121 sounds like a bargain!

I changed my own oil , filter and final drive oil. They did all the valve stuff and changed the brake fluid as well as all the inspections.  I felt pretty good about the cost.

Thanks for the clarification.  That explains the cost differential.

Looking forward to putting on the next 6k!  8)

Just had a bespoke Service done on my 2012 Twin Cam, it cost £236.12.
The bike had covered over 6,000 miles in less than 5 months since it's last Service.

The work done included,
Oil & Filter change, (labour only, parts supplied by myself),
Front & Rear Brake Fluid change, (every 2 Years),
Engine Synchronisation, (Throttle Bodies Balanced).
