The finish corroding or the actual aluminum? My 07R suffered a bad drive shaft due to a transmission seal failure. I had to pull the fork to replace the shaft. The fork was a monster, just trying to understand what went wrong w the fork.
Thanks

Bubbling up from under the coating.. I posted a couple of pics on here, somewhere! Sure one of the better computer savvy members will find them.
Cheers

Vini, Vidi, Velcro....... I came, I saw, I stuck around.
Got my recall bike on Feb 1st with 4k miles on it. I'm 400miles short of my 12k service! No issues apart from consumables ie one front tyre @ 6k miles, one rear at 10kmiles, rear brake pads at 10k. Wear on front tyre is very odd flattens on the rhs will try different tyre next time.
Just noticed that my 2 week old RT has suffered from my left knee rubbing against the grey panel and removed some paint. I noticed that SmileyMiley had the same issue and BMW declare it fair wear and tear. Is that the official line come hand back time? Seems a bit crap that it isn't protected in some way from the factory as the only solution i can see is some after market paint protection which seems wrong on a 17k bike. Or am i just worried about nothing?
Alf, it sounds like a visit to your dealer is in order to bang the proverbial desk!!?? I agree that such wear should not be seen so prematurely on, as you rightly say, an expensive bike!
My RTLC is coming up for it first birthday later this month. The bevel box and swing arm were replaced by BMW when I pointed out some bubbling of the paint system. No questions asked just replacement parts and a dealer bike when mine was in being fixed. No other problems. My plan was to trade this bike for a new one when it was 3 years old, but I don't think this will happen now though. My one truly is a great bike :-*
