Driving Lights

Got any questions about the BMW's R1200RT/R1250RT's onboard audio, Bluetooth or the Electrical system?

Driving Lights

Post by mercator1 »

I was going to add some driving lights to my new R1200RT, and I was going to mount some on the forks, where the PIAA's were on my 2005 model. I have a question about the wiring.  Is any of the wiring stubbed in for the auxiliary lighting, or do you have to run all the leads.  If all new, is there a switched feed available on the fuse block, wherever that is?

If I am not mistaken, on the water cooled models, there is a connector under the left front cover for the factory aux light, but how to switch it without the switch itself- is unclear.

The OEM lights have a wiring loom and a switch that can be bought separately. You would just need to adapt the light connectors.  I'm not sure though that you might need to then visit a dealer to activate the Linbus system.
