Battery Replacement..... Excuse a newbie!

Post by am4862 »

All,

Need some advice..... The battery on my 2007 RT is beginning to have issues. I've bought a replacement Odyssey one from Nippy Normans. I just need to check if there any resets, procedures to follow when doing the swap. I've heard vague murmurings about resetting the Throttle Position Sensor, but no real step by step help.

The Haynes Manual for a 2007 RT says the following:-

Disconnecting the battery leads deletes all memorised settings (e.g. throttle position sensor).

Make sure this procedure is carried out before starting the engine.

Switch the ignition ON. Fully open and close the throttle a couple of times - this allows the engine control unit to register the throttle butterfly positions via the sensor.

The bike will also loose the date and time and this will bring on your service indicator. Reset the clock and it should go out.
