water leak !
Re: water leak !
Without wishing to prolong this thread, my 2015 LC developed a dribble at 1000 miles. Having spent £16K, I did not expect to be told it was 'not unusual. ' I ensured that the dealer, Pidcocks, replaced the pump and seal. I was a little disappointed that they refilled with the old engine oil. However, no problems since!
Re: water leak !
Whatever the dealer did when they replaced your pump would have been as dictated by BMW as they lay out strict procedures for all warranty work.

Re: water leak !
I just noticed my first bit of coolant weeping from the hole. Riding a 2016RT, and have 9100 miles on it. I find your reference to altitude interesting, I just returned from a trip to Yellowstone, where I rode the Beartooth highway multiple times (10,947 ft in altitude). Took a couple pics and then cleaned it off to see if I get anything new. Checked the coolant, and it's only down about 1/4 inch over the last 4000 miles.Budman wrote: The blue indicates that it is coolant. On other discussion boards you will find many opinions but the prevailing thought seems to suggest that the small leak will seal itself with time. Altitude seems to be part of the cause. The two dealers that I have spokes with agree that its fairly normal and self correcting.
I had a GTL and had to replace two water pumps. Thats one reason I went back to an RT.
While I've noticed that my heat gauge moves up and down one 1 notch initially gave me some concern but Ive spoken to several owners and Im not concerned anymore.
Best wishes on the new bike,
