Advise on maintenance on ESA suspension
Hi,looking for advise on how best to keep ESA suspension working on my 2005 rt,some owners say it can seize up.
Re: Advise on maintenance on ESA suspension
To my knowledge there is no service items on any of it. Just keep it as clean as you can. The whole system is very reliable.

Most common fault on ESA, picture copied from Slovenian BMW forum.

Yep - no service items. Mine was always pretty clean on the outside but it did sieze up, luck of the draw to a certain extent I think.
Re: Advise on maintenance on ESA suspension
Does anyone know if the ESA shocks are rebuildable, and if so, what is the recommended time/mileage lapse between rebuilds? Some shocks are rebuildable, but I haven't read anything about the ESA shocks, other than that replacements are expensive. I also read about someone who put a Wilburs or Ohlins or something in place of the stock ESA shock. I'm very happy with mine (36,000 KM), and I use the adjustability of ESA regularly. Beautie feature...
Re: Advise on maintenance on ESA suspension
AFAIK the ESA shocks are not rebuildable. When mine went toes-up I replaced them with Ohlins.
