Just had my 7K mile service done and dealer had to replace the water pump (seals, etc.) due to excessive leakage. Told me that this is a problem they've seen on many 2015 R1200RT's. Also told me that BMW, while acknowledging the problem refuses to issue a recall. Their position is that the leakage seals it self with addition engine run time. Seems a bit dubious logic to me; like the seals wear in over the break-in period? Because of my low mileage the dealer addressed it under warranty and told me that if it happens again I'd be covered because they recorded the maintenance activity. Any one out there have experience with this issue?
Cheers,
Paul G.
Water Pump Leakage
Re: Water Pump Leakage
Yep. Most seep for a couple of K but the level stays up. It's made worse if you visit a mountain or two. In most cases the seepage stops. Mine did anyway.
