Fender Extender

Post by guest3954 »

I am looking to fit a fender extender to front mudguard. There is a self adhesive version. Has anyone any feedback on this application. Thanks Mike

I haven't and personally I wouldn't trust an adhesive to stay stuck.

If you're thinking of adhesive to save drilling into the original then I would recommend the Avant as no drilling required  :) http://www.nippynormans.com/r1200rt-lc-2014-on/avant-fender-extender-r1200rt-lc-2014-onwards

I've installed the front fender of machineartmoto

Easy to install, you don't have to drill holes in your existing fender

I have the Pyramid extender.  Yes you have to drill even though they also give you an adhesive strip.  But it's only a quarter of the price you pay for one from Nippy Normsn.

I bet the Pyramid extender is not the same quality. I have a stick and drill type (not Pyramid) on my Pan and its frankly a horrible piece of plastic. It of cause does the job. However the MachineArtmoto one is a very well engineered bit of kit. It is quality and for once its a aftermarket part that looks good on a quality bike. Expensive maybe but so is the bike.

The Pyramid one might be inexpensive but it's not a tatty item.  It's a perfect fit and match and doesn't resemble a shovel attached to the bike.  No chips on the engine after 2 years says it works.  Cost me £12 and 20 minutes work.

Each to their own, but that looks crap to me, and you have holes in your fender

Pyramid extender on my 15
Adhesive and a couple screws
Don't really notice it's on their till you compare the lack of crud on the front case of engine compared to a identical bike without one👍

Quite, just my point.  It does the job, blends in with the fender and won't add to your mpg due to drag.

Were the black screw cap detail covers included with the Pyramid product?

On mine they are rivets not screws.  Think they changed to screws shortly after I got mine

You lot crack me up  :)  You fight your corner to justify your buying decisions. The one from Nippy Normans is also sold by my dealer, so it must be better if its BMW approved. Didn't think anyone buys anything that isn't from a dealer  >:D

The fender extender on my 2012 TC was fitted by the supplying BMW Dealer, it hasn't got "BMW" stamped on it.

Nothing to do with BMW approval.  All to do with a massive mark up they get.
