RainX on windscreen?

Post by timminator »

Has anyone tried RainX or similar product on wind screen?  Wondering if it will make bugs less inclined to stick, and thus clean up easier.  But not wanting to have anything on screen that makes it cloudy.

A BIG NO ON RAIN X will damage plastic, both windshields and visors
I use a product by Cee Baily called RAIN REPELLENT MAX or NIKWAX
VISOR PROOF both are very effective rain repellents that do not damage plastic

Rain X do a product purely for plastic. Fine on my screen and sold by Halfords, mong others. Just make sure it is the product clearly marked "For Plastic".

If your just looking for a bug free windshield, try lemon pledge and a micro fiber towel
Spray windshield in morning and wipe with towel, enough residue from pledge that the buggers are easy to wipe off with a wet micro towel at day's end

Not yet found anything that really stops them from sticking - not tried Pledge though.  I just chuck a wet towel over the screen when I get back from a ride. Take it off about 20 mins later and anything that's left just wipes off.  Works on the GT anyway - pick up the new RT on Weds.
