New one here too, also with an unexpected gift

Post by Dollygray »

Picked up my 2010 RT from Edinburgh last weekend and found this in the pannier when I started looking around. Not even sure if it is part of the bike, any clues gratefully received, and before I get a raft of answers it's the item on the left, not the phone on the right.

Just had a look at Real OEM and can't see anything quite that shape to do with the battery compartment..  Doesn't mean its not though.  Maybe its a free gift from Berlin.

Quite pleased with myself, I guessed it just from the photo.

So, that begs the question....what's the battery held down with, or was that just a rogue 'spare' in the pannier courtesy of BMW Edinburgh?? ;) :)

It probably means some other unsusspecting owner has a battery floating around waiting for the cables to break.

Good possibility a replacement battery of a different size has been installed, by all means if it fits current battery reinstall ASAP

No it was the battery hold down strap which has now been refitted :-) Bike had been sitting at a dealers (non BMW) for a while so I imagine they would have had the battery in for a charge and forgot to refit i before I picked it up.
Thanks for all the help..
