Tank Protectors and Fender Extender

Post by Sullivj »

Today, I fitted the Advant fender extender and some tank protectors.  The extender is designed to fit without glue or drilling required.

Having just returned from 300 miles in the pouring rain, I'm hoping that the extender will help to keep some dirt off the engine!

Saw one of these without the bottom bit fitted to an LC last week.  After 200 miles of heavy rain the front of the engine looked OK.  Cant same the same for the exhaust as what came out the extended outer edges went strait on the header pipes.

What are the tank protectors? Who sells those as well as various other models? How many people use them?

I have not as yet noticed any issue with mine as my knees tuck into the plastic (non-painted) area but I can see the start of a 'rub' area on the left side.

I got mine from here, after noticing the same rubbing that you mention.

NippyNormans also do a Paint Protector Set, http://www.nippynormans.com/tank-pads/p ... 05-to-2013,
had them on both my 2010 & 2012 RT's after noticing the paintwork getting marked as mentioned by others.

"This image shows a grey film so that the film is visible to you, but normally Paint Protector is 100% invisible, therefore there is no effect on the look of the bike."

Once fitted, the "clear" film is barely noticeable.
