Heated seat connections....!
Am I the only one who finds the heated seat connectors REALLY annoying?
Normally I firstly forget they're there! Then I struggle and struggle to separate them - even though I'm pressing the tiny release clip.
Why couldn't BMW have made a wireless connection, or at the very least a connection that easily separates.

Try taking your gloves off..

Can't really have a wireless connection for a heating element and I'd rather have a connector that was a little bit awkward to get off than one than came apart every time you went over a bump!
Re: Heated seat connections....!
Small flat blade screwdriver, use to CAREFULLY lift tab, seperate
As others have said, better a secure connection than one easily separated
These are the standard connectors found on BMW's

No, you are not the only one Sullivj, they are a bit of a fiddle. Even dealers must think so as on a number of occasions I have seen seats dangling down the side of bikes "hanging on the wires". Ignore the silly comments about wearing gloves.Sullivj wrote: Am I the only one who finds the heated seat connectors REALLY annoying?

I've not had that problem ,just the opposite on the rear it doesn't seem to lock in no matter how hard I push it.
If it's not broken, you didn't hit it hard enough!

The trick is to press the hinged tab as shown in the photo, at the same time, I hold the part attached to the seat, they are a bit femmer. (You've got Tyco to thank for the design).

Re: Heated seat connections....!
Why would you want to undo them anyway. It's no problem just popping the front one on top of the pillion to work at the front and vide versa.

I was stripping the bike down for an ACF Treatment.

Those little connectors are even difficult for the salesman at the BMW dealership.
I cannot get them apart less I us a little screwdriver.
Thanks for this all the comments.
It is nice to know it is another first world problem that we can share.

You found a salesman who even knew where the plugs are. Well done.
Re: Heated seat connections....!
I am not very fond of those either. With so many types of connectors available, why chose those?
Re: Heated seat connections....!
No you are not alone, I hate these connectors with a passion!! :nervous:Sullivj wrote: Am I the only one who finds the heated seat connectors REALLY annoying?

When I was installing and adjusting various accessories (PDM60, dash cams, autocom, additional brake lights, Clearwater lights etc.) I spent a lot of time with one or both seats removed. I just gave up re-connecting the seat wiring each time and now just do not bother unless it gets really really cold.
In addition to not understanding the mothership's thinking on using such silly connectors, why oh why have they made taking the pillion seat off so much harder on the water cooled RT? How I long for the simple one key one piece flip up seat of my K75RT!!
