My set up currently is ...
BMW navigator 5 with some mp3 albums on a micro sd card
Sena 20s (helmet bluetooth)
IPhone 5s
To complicate things even further I also have a gopro 3+ with a Sena gp Bluetooth back

If you carry a pillion fully connecting to the audio and GPS for both of you is a bit more complicated or expensive if you you use BMW BT kit. Spend some time here reading all the options before you start spending.
You're probably better off though switching it all off and getting used to the bike for a bit.

Got flashed by a camera on my first time out. Going a bit too quick while messing with the gadgets. Go for a ride with lots of short stints so you can stop and try different things.

Re: Just bought an Iconic .... Lots of questions coming
The main thing I have managed to figure out over the weekend is that I am going to get some bar backs\risers to make the riding position a little more upright and comfortable.
So here's my next question(s)....
Any personal recommendations of bar backs\risers?
Does anyone else under 6 foot tall use them?
A direct link would be fab too ;-)
Thanks in advance

I have the Ilium bar back. I'm 5'9" so probably did not need them but they were on the bike at the dealership so I left them on. 5000 kms since July and the bike just keeps getting more comfortable every time out.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
Re: Just bought an Iconic .... Lots of questions coming
You might want to ride it a bit first. I am 5ft 8 and have no issues with comfort and have done 4k in the last 5 months. Felt a little odd at first, but I did come from a Harley, but now can ride all day long with no issues. There are lots of reviews on other RT forums as well, think there was a thread on here, so just do a search.

I'm 5'10" and have to lean slightly forward to reach the bars.
I intend on doing a good few miles and getting the comfort level right now will pay dividends later on.

+1 on the last two replays . You have only had it a week and the last thing that an Iconic needs is aftermarket bits. The only bar risers I have seen for the LC are as ugly as sin. I'm 5 ft 7 and often ride all day with no hand/wrist/ arm or shoulder discomfort Try just shifting a bit on the seat.

Bmw has pannier protectors, fit both the RT and 1600
I like the Machine Art Moto cylinder others like the steel bars
My first addition was Skene Design P3 lights in back and Photon Blasters in front, great safety enhancements, in fact my last three bikes have had them
BMW standard windshield offered little protection in heavy rain, switched to a Werks Quite ride and got 100% improvement

With rates like that just go to BMW insurance. But with no garage or off road parking you might have a problem.

Bennetts have provisionally quoted just over £500 but need to contact Zenith insurance in the morning to confirm.

Re: Just bought an Iconic .... Lots of questions coming
Bennetts obviously got cold feet and after promising me a call back today ..... And didn't bother!
That's another company to add to my blacklist that I will never approach again.
Went with BMW insurance in the end as they brought their price down to almost match Bennetts (but with better cover)

Managed to put 100 miles on it before I had to go home for my tea .. :-)
Still got lots of things on the bike to learn, like getting sound from the radio to the speakers.
Might take a run down to Brighton tomorrow to try and get used to it more.
Can't stop smiling
