DIY. What's painting, decorating and plumbing got to do with servicing your bike.
They are dangerous enough without me attacking them with a hammer. And if you don't trust your dealer to do a proper job, find another one.

Based on this cost, will be booking the bike in with Cooper Sunderland for a service within the next month.

The oil filter was a BMW one.
The oil was Castrol 10w-50 as previously recommended by BMW, now Shell 15w-50, which is not a grade listed in the Rider's Manual.
The dealer did make me aware of this, however, they agreed that BMW are unlikely to throw out a warranty claim because of it.

I've quoted £15 for the fd oil when 1 l will do 5 changes, so the real cost is £3, the remainder will do a gearbox oil change too.
The fd oil seals were a couple of quid.

Sent this email to Allianz customer support, they oversee the warranty claims for BMW.
"Please may I ask for some clarification & reassurance on the recommended engine oil for my bike.
When the bike was new, BMW’s oil recommendation was Castrol 10w-50 Power 1 fully synthetic oil.
Since then, BMW have changed their oil supplier to Shell with a viscosity range of 15w-50 semi-synthetic.
The 15w-50 viscosity range is not one of those recommended in the Rider’s Manual.
As I did not want to mix oil viscosities, I have continued to use the Castrol 10w-50.
I supplied the oil when the bike was serviced at Cooper BMW Sunderland.
Cooper BMW Sunderland confirmed that, if the oil I supplied hadn’t been acceptable, they wouldn’t have put the oil in the bike.
Please can you investigate this matter to reassure me that the Terms & Conditions of the Extended Warranty are still valid."
Their reply was.
"I have now had the opportunity to speak with our Warranty Claims Manager regards your query.
He has asked me to assure you that so long as your bike is serviced by an authorised BMW Motorrad retailer then we would accept that the bike had been serviced in accordance with the terms and conditions of your warranty. If you are supplying oil as stated in his handbook, the retailer is correct to say they would only use if recommended.
I hope this clarifies our position for you."

Not quite sure what they mean. Are they saying you should have supplied a 15/50 as recommended by the dealer

Spoke to Allianz this morning, they have clarified their response as follows.
"Following our telephone call, as discussed, I apologise for the typo in my last e-mail.

Therefore, it's acceptable to supply & use 10w-50 oil.

Just placed an order with Opie Oils for,
1 litre of Castrol Syntrax Longlife 75w-90 gearbox oil, £14.35, (BMW cost £44.63)
4 litres of Castrol Power 1 4T Racing 10w-50 engine oil, £35.05, (BMW cost £69.20)
4 x NGK MAR8B-JDS spark plugs, £31.49 (£7.87 each), (BMW cost £53.52)
all for the sum of £80.89 inc. P&P, a saving of £86.46 less than the BMW costs.
Opie Oils prices seem very reasonable atm if anyone is looking for service items.

Cooper BMW Sunderland have very kindly agreed to put in the post, 3 off seal rings for the gearbox & engine sump fill/drain plugs for a total of £2.64.
Saving me a round trip of 70 miles.
Just need an OEM oil filter now for £15.76 less 10% from the dealers, plus a courier service.
