Coopers obviously do know having added 6000 miles to your next service.  With your book stamped by An authorised dealer you would hsve had no warranty problems bad you needed it.

A steal i thought

That was a decent price. I got my 2012 in the summer, with 4,100 miles for £8,200, but it didn't have the sat nav.

Sounds like there's some nice low mileage TC RT's out there to be had.

Got my 2012 model with 3,050 miles on the clock in October 2014, I think the screen price was £10,450 without a sat. nav.

As used bikes of this age, it looks like they depreciate about £1,000 per year.

Must admit I'm not a big fan of this Mileage / Annual Service malarkey. My present bike had a 12,000 mile service in October 2014 at around 11,600 miles. I did unusually low miles in the following two years. I had the 18,000 mile service done last week at around 17,800 miles. I did do an interim Engine Oil and Filter change about a year after the 12,000 service myself. Personally I can't see the point of the "Annual" inspection unless it's more of a "Safety" check for little used bikes.
Do dealers remove used "for sale" stock from showrooms for a Annual Inspection every time the 12 months has passed since the last Service ?. Just a thought

Depends how you look at it.  In the case of Sullivj's new bike if there was no time set it would not have seen a workshop for 5 years.

In the first 3 years since registration, my TC RT did 3,160 miles, within this time, it had 4 oil & filter changes.

Running-in Check at 545 miles
Year 1 Annual at 1,646 miles (1,101 miles)
Year 2 Annual at 2,029 miles (383 miles)
Year 3 Annual at 3,160 miles (1,131 miles)

It then does 6,870 miles in 4 months before the next oil & filter change.

In the last 13 months, the bike has done 5,511 miles & just recently had it's last service.

If you've got a BMW new, used or extended warranty, the servicing needs to be done this way to maintain the T&C's.

So, BMW say do an oil & filter change every year, irrespective of the mileage or every 6,000 miles, which ever comes first.

I did haggle for 6000 miles service but they were having none of it, presumably as it only arrived with them last friday evening.


Still happy though.


He did mention that warranty is valid even if I do my own servicing so long as BMW parts are used.  Haggle that one when something goes wrong.!!!

I was told BMW warranty is only valid if genuine BMW parts are used and you get a stamp in the book from the garage.

The BMW warranty handbook says,
"All service and warranty work must be carried out by an Authorised BMW Dealer or BMW Service Authorised Workshop using only Genuine BMW Parts."

If using an independent, they must be VAT registered.

I'd love to do my own servicing whilst still maintaining the T&C's of the warranty, have been advised this is not the case.

Another dealer giving the wrong information.

Yep 12 months MOT 2 years warranty, Free European breakdown 2 years.  I will get it serviced by Bm until 2 years are through then i will do my own as all other bikes i,ve had over the last 40 years.
