Re: Turning alarm off
Hi
On the 2017RT there is a way to turn it off until the next time the ignition is turned on in the menus, but apart from that remove the battery seem to be the only option. Engineers must have a way of disabling it but I asked the dealers and they wouldn't tell me, but I guess that makes sense.

Don't think that's correct.
In the LC Quick Manuel for Menue card under settings Vehicle it can be set on Automatic on/off.
Mine is set to off and only arms if I use the fod.

Didn't think 2010 R1200Rt has an alarm. Just an immobiliser. ???Duggie wrote: Is it possible to deactivate the alarm whilst working on or cleaning the bike ? R1200rt 2010 model

Re: Turning alarm off
Yes they had alarms as an option sure I remember they had a smallish fod that would deactivate/set them.

Thats what I read but on the menus I am sure it is "off once" I will check again but I think it may be a software update.
Re: Turning alarm off
No update I know of. Mine is permanently off as it lives in an alarmed garage. It is manually set and turned off using the fod.

Same for me. Only difference is that I use a fob...
Re: Turning alarm off
Just picked up my new to me 2011 and it has BM alarm fitted.
If you hold the left button down it immobilises and hold it down again and alarm is activated. To deactivate just put key in Ignition or right button on fob

Re: Turning alarm off
Around the ignition key barrel you will see a black plastic ring. This is a ring ariel for the immobiliser/ ignition. . Remove your key and the bike is immobilised. Fob just sets the alarm I think.

Re: Turning alarm off
to put an earlier (2005 to 2013) oilcooled RT into "service/transport" mode
Thinking about it the alarm on my '14 R12RT LC uses the same method to go to service/transport mode
- press the fob to arm the alarm, which should beep twice to confirm it's activated,
- then press the activate button on the fob again and it will beep three times
- When it's done this the motion sensor part is deactivated, useful when working on the bike, cleaning it or when on ferries etc.

Re: Turning alarm off
If the same as the 2012 RT:
Ignition ON
Press button 1(Ribbed) 3 times will get you a tone.
within ten seconds turn Ignition OFF
Press button 2(Smooth) 3 times will get you a tone
Within Ten seconds turn Igniton ON gets 3 tones
You are now in programming mode
Confirmation tone when alarm activated Button 1 for yes, Button 2 for no
Then Press either button once
Which alarm tone ? Rising and falling Button 1, Intermittent Button 2
Alarm to come on with ignition turns off? Button 1 for YES, Button 2 for NO
Then turn ignition off.
I've still got the book.
