I've tried it another couple of times but it fails about half way through. Obviously doesn't like Derbyshire.

If you are just doing the 3.4 Navigator software should be quick, if you have to do the 7GB of Maps it could be longer:-) Peter

Stopped map update, it seemed to be taking forever.
Installed Garmin Express update to 4.3.0.0.
Restarted map update, time remaining now showing 1 hour 15 minutes & blue indicator bar is moving.

You can update just the maps you want to update.
I bet you are installing all the maps. You may not want to install the foreign maps for instance just now. (you can still install them another time if you want to).
The more maps you install now the more chance it will need to put some of them onto your memory card in your Garmin.

I was born with nothing and unfortunately I still have most of it left.

Good point, however, with probably only two updates per year, last done in May 2016, I just do the lot.stayingupright wrote:I bet you are installing all the maps.

The 3D maps seem to be installed on the device, whilst the full coverage goes on the memory card.
I'm updating the PC & device at the same time.
Less than 1 hour to go, will keep you posted.

Re: "You can update just the maps you want to update." I don't believe you can with Garmin Express unlike TomTom and as David says 90 min every 6 months or so is not the end of the world (he said having recently got upgraded from 1MB to 26MB broadband!)
Plus I realise I posted the wrong image above, you can update Garmin Basecamp without connecting/updating your Device/Map, look under the Garmin Basecamp settings you can see if an update is needed.

Express update problem solved. Uninstalled then re installed.
Re: Garmin express 4.2.0.0 update now available
Thanks for the heads up.
It did not notify me, however when I checked in the "About" I could see the update.
It took only a few seconds (fast internet!)
Best regards
Sleuth
