Headlight aim - adjustment

Hi all,


Does anyone know if you can raise the headlight aim in addition to the lever under the headlight itself?


When I bought my RT the headlight beam seemed really high and even with the adjuster right down seemed a bit high. Then i had a run in quite literally with a pigeon and now its really low. Is there any adjustment for the headlight unit itself?

If it moved when you had your incident it's a pigeon something has broken. Can you feel movement in the headlight unit.

can't feel any movement at all which is a bit odd.

What year is the RT, perhaps the pigeon has just nudged some adjustment that was seized.

What loading is on the bike, are the suspension & headlight adjustment set up accordingly.

Its only me riding with nothing in the panniers. I have the suspension set onto road so should all be ok.

Do you know a friendly MOT testing station, if so, ask if they will check the headlight aim for you.

My understanding is that the riding mode (road) only sets the damping & not the ride height for the loading on the bike, is the ESA set for one-up.

Road is an engine mode, nothing to do with suspension.  Other settings being Rain and Dynamic.

On the LC the ESA setting will automatically change the Mode setting as shown. You can however reset to whatever you want. Makes no difference to your headlight as the Dynamic ESA will attempt to keep the bike level no matter what the setting is.

The manual "Load setting" will adjust the headlight aim.

"Headlight beam throw is generally kept constant when spring preload is adjusted to suit load. Spring preload adjustment might not suffice only if the motorcycle is very heavily loaded. Under these circumstances, headlight beam throw has to be adjusted to suit the weight carried by the motorcycle."
