Thanks

Might just give this update a miss.

I think I am too old to learn Mandarin Chinese or Taiwanese
I was born with nothing and unfortunately I still have most of it left.

Does the update indicator on Garmin Express disappear after a period of time if you ignore them?

No.  Even if you uninstall it.  When you reinstall,it and plug in its back.

Oh well guess I'll just have to have some Mandarin on my sat-nav, I had thought about deleting all the languages except English to free up card space.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I have just deleted all the fikes that I will never use, languages, icons etc. This only free space on the unit not the SD card.

I'm now looking for the files that contriol the "safety" cameras so that I can delete those as well.

You can delete virtually anything want from the sat Nav.

You don't even have to add all the maps and can leave space for the bits you do want on your card (If you need one)

A card costs all of £10.  Why bother deleting anything.

I originally deleted the files from my 660 to free up space for maps. That was when you could get all the Europe maps on the unit. I deleted the "safety" camera files because of the info that camera warnings were illegal in France and even though it was not switched on, have the "option" was still an offence. Hindsight shows this probably to be scare mongering. But as it was my first trip to France, better safe than sorry.
I find that I never used it when riding in the UK and just got used to keeping to the speed limits (?).
I later added an sd card for music, and then found I needed it when the maps were too big for the unit.
I then also started downloaded routes onto the card and not into the unit. Reason given to me was that if the route get corrupted, I can reload it from the card.
Now onto the Nav V. I just didn't see the point of have lots of unneccessary files on the unit and I'm unlikely to ever to use the camera alert feature.

As to the SD card, the manual says it will take upto 64G but the BMW dealer from whom I bought the V said that don't fit a 64G as it will cause problems. Anyone using a 64G card in their V?

Got to get out on the bike and try out the V for real.

"Top Tip" Barry, following your advice, I've started to do the same, thanks.

64G.  You could load maps of the universe on that.  1/2 the size is more than enough.  I have loaded a huge number of routes to many versions of the Navigator and always to the unit internal memory.  Never had a corrupted one.

Having the routes on the memory card, allows you to import them, make any changes "on the hoof" & revert back to the original if necessary.

A good insurance policy, it also allows routes to be exchanged between devices.

Only got a 4GD card in my 660, works ok.

A note on route exchanging.  IV will exchange with another IV but not a V.  And vice versa.  Very clever of Garmin.  Makes no difference where they are stored in the device.

Do the different devices, Zumo or BMW (Garmin),recognise where the memory card has come from.

Barry & I have shared routes from 660 to 660.

Now who's got a Zumo & a BMW unit to try & exchange routes using a memory card.
