Switchable riding modes & ASC may be safety features, but are they taking the skill/fun out of riding a motorcycle.

I normally use road/comfort/soft on long motorway journeys but if I'm part of a group then I like Dynamic/hard on those twisty country roads. It doesn't feel as different as the 1600 did power wise, I think even rain gives the full power. Rain is a useful mode for increasing confidence on slippery surfaces though.

So what are the recommendations for us mortals with ESAII?

ESA are just suspension settings, nothing to do with riding (throttle) modes/ASC, we have to use our right hand.leonjennings wrote:So what are the recommendations for us mortals with ESAII?

Now that could be misconstrued.

Surely this thread only applies to the LC as only it had different engine modes. Or have I just not seen the joke.

I think this is an issue which runs right through this forum - we may all be speaking about an R1200RT but the 2006 and 2017 models, while they have many similarities, also have substantial differences.
When looking at a new thread it would be nice if it could be made clear which specific model was being discussed, just as knowing which country the post was referring to could be useful. Please don't assume that I know where you are or what you ride, my powers of deduction are limited .....
My 4th R1200RT = 2016 (2017 MY) R1200RT LE

Another dynamic/normal vote. I use Rain when it's bad. I usually jack the preload up one. Use Comfort/Soft on motorways although it can cause a bit of 'ocean swell' feeling now and then.
Re: Rain? Road? Dynamic? ... Or mix it a bit?
Quite right. I would point out though that the only similarity between pre 2014 RTs and the LC is the name.

Road all the time for me. I like the response to be constant in all condition.

Good job you paid for all those extra options then!!
Re: Rain? Road? Dynamic? ... Or mix it a bit?
I didn't pay for extras as I didn't want them. I have a very much vanilla RT, no EAS, no cruise, only road or rain. About as interactive as you can get with an RT ;Drichardbd wrote:

Just like it was before all these gadgets came along.sofnolime wrote:Road all the time for me. I like the response to be constant in all condition.
In the wet, I can only once in 40 years & many miles recall the rear wheel spinning up on my VFR 800.
