Post by rcjr67 »

Hi,

I have a 06 R1200RT I Laid down  and both valve cover were damaged and cracked.  I looked to replace with OEM but holy smoke at around 300$ a side is a little more than I was looking to pay.  I found some after market ones on ebay, was just wanting to know if anyone has used these http://www.ebay.com/itm/332026076553?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT . Thanks in advance for your replies!

The part numbers for the HP2 covers are different o I think not.  It's a long time since I saw one but I also think the oil filler hole is on the right not the left.

thanks for the reply. On my 06 the oil filler hole is on the left hand side as you sit on the bike .

The cylinder head covers are available from KFM in Germany, how do these prices compare.

LHS, https://www.kfm-motorraeder.de/cms/en/g ... 1127673079

RHS, https://www.kfm-motorraeder.de/cms/en/g ... 1127673080

Boonstra Parts may be an alternative too, https://www.boonstraparts.com/en/parts/ ... ine+covers

Thanks for finding them those look pretty good,  I found the correct one on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-R1200RT-R12 ... 1385.  I guess the question Im looking to get an answer on is the quality of fitment if anybody has had  experience with purchasing aftermarket types like these.  I had another bike and I purchased some aftermarket stock mirrors and out of the box they looked exactly like the oem ones but after I installed them I found they had no range of adjustment and I could only see my shoulders in them.  budget is limited not looking to spend money on these if they are going to be junk

Sorry, can't answer that question.

The KFM covers are "original spare parts from BMW".

Boonstra do either, "second-hand or new replica covers".

Since your on this side of the pond, I would check with Beemer Boneyard, they seem to have a bit of everything as reasonable prices
