GEO tracking devices

Any recommendations for a discreet geo tracking device or RFID tag?  Looking for something small that I can hide on the RT so I always know where it is parked.  And hopefully that means sitting in my garage, but you know, if it was stolen.  Also a way for the little miss to keep track of me, she worries when I'm riding.

For the Mrs who worries issue, I invested in an InReach sattelite communicator (recently purchased from Delorme by Garmin) after a few trips riding the Rockies in CO and Death Valley in CA, where I couldn't touch base with her for days at a time. She worries too. The InReach is similar to a Spot unit except it has 2 way texting communication, so you can confirm your touch point was received or they can reach out to you. It also allows real time tracking if you want to enable the feature, as well as SOS functionality. Thanks CWRoady, I think I'd need the second option.  It would be perfect for tracking my location while I'm traveling around the state.  The other requirement of locating the bike if stolen is a bit trickier.  I was thinking more like the Lojack system, but I understand they no longer offer that for motorcycles.

What would be cool is if the Nav V had the smarts to not only be a receiver, but a transmitter to advertise location.

The Nav V can advertise location, but only via the Garmin SmartLink which obviously requires mobile phone coverage. I use the 'Follow Me' option so my wife can track me when I am on my way back from client sites - that way she knows when to time dinner!

All hype  not very reliable  got 10 of these based on the blurb  cant even find my keys when they are right next to the phone  total waste of cash >:(

If you have an iPhone she can track you that way or if your android i'm sure they have some way of doing it also. When I take off its usually anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks, my wife keeps a constant track on me through the phone.

We do use FindMyFriends on the iPhone, and that works reasonably well.  The only drawback is that it's limited by cell coverage, and often my rides take me to the coast or the outskirts of the state where cell coverage is dicey.  The GPS devices work off satellite and "supposedly" work everywhere.

The GPS system is passive, by which I mean the satellites send out signals that a receiver unit picks up and analyses to calculate your position. There is no 'two way' communication between the GPS unit and the satellites.

Sorry to hear that. I know they have worked for my brother based on him using it repeatedly on a 2 week ride we did up into Canada from California last July. Hope I didn't cost you too much coin by listing it as a possible solution.
