Try something like this Ram mount balls mounted to handle bars. Then use X grip mount for phone or other accessories.

+1 for the X grip.  My wife and I both use them on our motorcycles, and I have one in my truck as well.  I use a Ram ball adapter at the handlebar base screw on my '08 RT, similar in concept to what is shown here by Heinze.

I was wondering.  In U.K. with the recent increase in fines, points and prison time allocated to the use of phones while driving, what's the fuzz likely to make of one sitting up on the bars.

My local fuzz just posted this on facebook which says touching a phone mounted to the bike is not a problem

I suggest you read the document again - but this time try not to find the justification for using a phone, rather read it for the sense of what it's intended to convey.


Part of the problem we have with mobile phone use is people looking for excuses to do things in a car or on a bike that common sense tells us are dangerous.


Like most of us, I consider myself to be a reasonably competent rider - and like loads of others, I've got the badges to prove it.  A couple of years ago, one of the best riders I know (a German road-riding coach, who trains racers on the Ring) told me I'd never really be any good as a road rider as long as I insisted on listening to music whilst I ride.  I stopped listening to music 95% of the time I ride and my riding was transformed - his description, not mine.


IMHO it is simply inconceivable that any rider can be properly in control of their ride whilst using a phone, regardless of what the document says...


Like RTman says - leave it in your pocket, instead of looking for loopholes.

Like wot I said above, when I'm on the bike STUFF THE PHONE.  In the pannier, switched off, where I can use it when not riding.  For me riding is a release from the chatter and racket that life has become.  Oh no, it's started: I sound like my Dad.

Just use my TomTom Via utilising ram mount.
Put it inside waterproof case, screen visible no audio.
Phone in pocket, switched off. No music, no hassle, bliss.


Bikes are for riding they're not an extension to the office. :silence:

Am i the only one who's assuming that the only reason anyone would want to mount their phone to their bike is in order to use a SATNav Application?  In which case any arguments as to whether it's allowed or not are exactly the same as using something like the Nav 5 which, like any satnav, can still be quite distracting if you decide to start pressing buttons whilst riding.

The Telferizer mount I believe is a stem mount that goes where the BMW roundall sits. You pop it off and the step mounts goes in its place. I have used Telferizer on my old ZZR1400 and Tropy. Good qaulity kit and a top bloke who is always keen to help if you have to mount anything with a ram mount

I use it for Waze. In NY, you have 3 touches on a hands free device but it has to be mounted.
