Or give Sherlocks a phone, they are very knowledgeable and can provide good used parts as well as new.

Yes but they break bikes, so if after good used parts, they have them on the shelf.

https://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Home/index.php have always been helpful if I've needed anything.
Re: Genuine bmw parts
Again just done a search for two genuine BMW parts on Motorworks . Yet again not OEM parts. Oil filter and front brake pads. On the pads they came up with (fits F800) .
I have had some dealing with them on used parts in an earlier life. Items bought and shipped directly to dealer for fitting. They normally paid for the return postage.
If we are prepared to pay top money for a premium product it's daft to try and save a few quid looking after it.

I've used Rainbow on many occasions and always had great service from them. If you send them an email with a query they always respond (it's usually Martin who writes back). So far they have been 100%.
So when is this “old enough to know better” supposed to kick in?

If you were in the US, check out Max BMW. And if you're in Canada, islandbmw.
