Would you all get a GS-911 wifi, if the £800 was not an issue, some say it pays for its self after a while, or is it best to leave some thing to the expensive pro's.
I have seen in a previous thread, about the service lights coming on if you disconnect the battery, that's worrying as I have always tinkered with my bikes, not picked the RT up yet and already thinking outside the box, it's defiantly a different animal.
I see a lot of you do a lot of servicing, and like the one I have purchased has full dealer. Do you really affect the price if you do your own servicing, easy bits!
Is the 911 a must if you can stretch to the £800, if I need a new battery I will have to get a shop to buy it fi, it just to get the service ligh switched off.............that's a crap deal.

£800. That equates to possibly 3 full services at a dealer.
The service light only comes on if you disconnect the battery because the bike looses the date. Reset the clock and it goes out again. No drama at all.

If you do your own services the GS-911 will pay for itself quickly.
Turning the service light off after oil change. Being able to bleed your own brakes with the GS-911 will save you 200 bucks. The GS-911 does many service functions that you can not do without it. It also performs various checks and calibrations that you can not perform with out it. Reading and resetting any fault codes is also worth the price of admission.

RTMan it's an old one 2005, all we could get at this point and time of this year, after selling my Kwak Ninja 9r, but it's only got 30k on clocks, and in good nick, but it was bought with no/to possibly some service history, turned out to have full dealer history so well chuffed, got side luggage, so looking to get top box!!! In red yeah right more like silver and colour code it. Got a BM tank Bag $$$ even second hand it's silly money, all on a budget but we are now BMW'ing lol and looking forward to eating some tarmac.

A red 2005 makes it a respray I think. Also you will have servo brakes and need a special tool to blead them. I remember someone on here getting round the problem but it's not straight forward.

And remember that you can have 10 bikes in one GS-911 so cost can be spread out.
Really is something that on my 07 LT was a nice tool to have but still had to flush all the ports on the ABS block in a specified order.
On the new Wetheads you have to have this to do the ABS correctly. Also will test and calibrate your shock, check exhaust servo, and just so many things including the maintenance minder light turned off.
I understand it is a bit of money but if a couple of guys go in it really is a cost saver.
I bought it as soon as I had the paperwork signed. I have the offer that anyone in my area I will run it on their bike no worries.
I don't want money, but if a guy has to run 100 miles to a dealer, then pay a computer hook up fee to turn off a darn light he can afford to give someone with a GS-911 a 20 spot to turn off the light. That gets him locked int the GS-911 with his VIN for future use. The GS-911 will take 10 VINS so once you use it on 10 bikes you need to buy new license for more VINS.
Like I said a bottle of Dot 4 brake fluid cost like 4 bucks, that is what it cost me to flush my brakes. Not sure on your side of the pond what it cost be here it is close to 200 bucks to do a brake flush! You are half way to a GS-911 for that cost. Just makes sense especially if you have guys in a club that need that service too.

Be aware there is a world of difference in the braking system on your bike and post 2006 models.

Heard good and bad cheers, a bit worried but hey ho done the deed now. Also heard people have changed breaks or disabled the abs!!! Might have read that wrong........ soon find out can pick it up from Tuesday onwards lol

I owned a 2005 from new , sold it after 2 years and he still has it. It's never given any trouble. I wouldn't consider any butchery if everything works.

GS-911. First thing I bought after purchasing my 2011 RT, Best thing I bought going off the standards of BMW service engineers.
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)
