drive shaft removal

drive shaft removal

Hi can anyone give me advice on the removal of the driveshaft from the gearbox on a r1200rt 05 model, any info greatly received many thanks.

Never done this task myself but according to the Haynes Manual it seems pretty straight forward. Briefly it involves "levering" the shaft away from the Gearbox Output shaft by inserting a suitable leaver between the Driveshaft Coupling and The Gearbox Shaft. This action releases a circlip from a groove in the Output shaft.

yes thanks, all out complete final drive took my time and well pleased I done it myself. il get new potentiometer fitted new gear box oil in and rear drive  oil replaced. new brake pads, suspension given the once over while its out. its a good time to clean all around the bike aswell ready for mot.

Glad you managed ok. Did the shaft "release" as advertised without too much force ?.

yes drive shaft came free with a bit of pressure with small bar. so all good thanks.

Did you had to remove the sub-frame right?

Yes it comes away first then driveshaft last.
