I am going to get the right hand fairing panel resprayed, and will need a new R1200RT sticker for a 2012 model, preferably original equipment.
Anybody able to point me in the right direction?

Go to Real OEM.  Enter you bike details.  Look,under Body Equipment.  Which one you need will depend on the bike colour.

I did one on a Honda once. It wasn't too bad.


Having watched a few YouTube videos, I got the sticker and panel VERY wet with a mix of water and washing up liquid.  This allowed it to be slid into position. Then, I squeezed out the water from the middle towards the edges with a small piece of rubber. It then dried and stuck perfectly.

At £38.00 each, I'd be "getting a man in" to fit the decal, either the paint shop or a vehicle graphics specialist.

If you do DIY, as John says, plenty of water seems to do the trick.

Had a local vehicle graphics specialist fit a paint protector set to my 2012 RT, looks easy when you know how & have the confidence to do it.

Just a thought, if the decal isn't damaged, could it be masked off, the panel re-sprayed, then lacquered over.

This technique was used recently on a petrol tank I had re-painted, the results were very good.

To ease application of the decal (or vinyl film) wet the area its to be applied to and the back of the decal with water to which a drop of detergent (Fairy will keep your hands soft as well) has been added using a spray bottle. This will allow you to slide it into position.
Once its positioned perfectly lift a corner and spray the back with a 25% solution of methylated spirit (denatured alcohol) Then squeegee it back down. It will stick immediately as the meths will activate the adhesive fixing it in place.
You can either just squeegee the water from under the rest of it or lift the opposite corner and spray with the meths solution then squeegee down.
Just take your time.
Works for me.

The decal on a 2012 RT certainly has a pronounced edge/depth to it, for this reason, masking off could work a treat & save £38.00.
