Wales 3 Days
Have put together a mini tour of Wales for June 19-21st. Roughly 200 miles per day (starting and finishing in Derby) and staying in Bangor 1 night and Builth Wells I night. At the moment it's me and my 2 regular riding buddies. David. has booked in as well manipulating days 1 and 3 to suit his route to and from home. The trip is weather dependant with a 48 hr. no fee cancellation policy. Happy to provide details if anyone cares to join us.

Yep, I'm booked up, my plan would be to meet up with Chris (k9doc) plus others for lunch at the Ponderosa Café on day 1.k9doc wrote:David. has booked in as well manipulating days 1 and 3 to suit his route to and from home.
Ride the full day 2.
Ride as far as Bala on day 3, then head for home from there.
I've seen the routes and they look very interesting.
The hotels were very accommodating & understanding that we are on motorcycles & the trip would be weather dependant.

My advice for a 200 mile a day tour of Wales would be not to start in Derby!

Pretty useless (unsolicited) advice when you happen to live there. I seem to recall a thread somewhere about saying nowt if you have nowt positive to say. For the sake of pedantry where does it say that all 600 miles should be Welsh.richardbd wrote:

Does a tour of the Black Forest start and finish there. I think not but thanks for your input.

Re: Wales 3 Days
Looking at my possible itinerary, I'd be doing just over 800 miles in 3 days.
Home to the Ponderosa Café is 170 miles and Bala to home is 190 miles.
Between the Ponderosa Café & Bala would be 450 miles.
I'll be calling in at Chester services in both directions, Chester is on the boarder, this adds another 80 miles in Wales.
For me, the split would be 65% in Wales, 35% in England.

Have been known to suffer from bouts of the 'Meldrews'. Happens more often the older I get.

Re: Wales 3 Days
I'm interested I'd Probably only be doing days out though, I get down that neck of the woods quite regularly.
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)

Re: Wales 3 Days
The Loch Café in Bala looks like a convenient place for me to wave good bye on day 3.

We could always meet at Chester services on day 1 and ride to the Ponderosa Café together.simbo wrote:I'm interested.
On day 3, I'd be heading to Chester services from the Loch Café in Bala.
It would be good to have your company for these parts of my journey rather than be on my own.

Re: Wales 3 Days
Have now built up the BC routes to meet at the Ponderosa Café on day 1 & depart from Bala on day 3.
Day 1 - 280 miles.
Day 2 - 230 miles.
Day 3 - 300 miles.
These distances are on the limit of what a would consider doing each day, the forecast would have to be very good.

If the weather is ok I can meet you guys at the Pondy - can't do the rest as I have a business trip to the US the following day.
So when is this “old enough to know better” supposed to kick in?
