I've got double cover too, BMW for the RT & Carole Nash via insurance for both bikes & a car on a six wheel policy.

Howard will be fine on his old FJ, (plus you'll have some company),  my 36 year old XJ(650) has never had to be recovered in 45,000 miles.

No, one of the other lads had a puncture repair kit but it wasn't successful. I think there was more than one hole in the tyre, a bit difficult to tell on a ZX10 without a centre stand to easily rotate the wheel for inspection. It was getting dark & I didn't have my spare clear visor with me, lesson learnt. One lad stayed with him, I think they arranged recovery, haven't heard the outcome yet. Must text and find out.

I was on the XJ, it's got tubed tyres, therefore, don't carry a repair kit.
With the RT, got a puncture repair kit plus mini compressor on board.

My buddy may well be coming to this one on his FJR, so the FJ will be in good company.

The RAC turned up at midnight to recover the bike, they had been waiting well over 2 hours.

Looking like we should have a good turn out, hope the weather plays the game.

Of those who have expressed an interest in attending, my reckoning is as follows,

4 x TC's, 2 x LC's plus 2 x FJ(R)'s, do we have any advance on this.

Sunday looking the drier day at the moment but we all know how accurate weather forecasts can be a few days out.

Likely to be on new tyres as I discovered the back one is slowly losing pressure with no obvious reason. Not sure if they will repair a W rated tyre in any case but it's no great hardship putting up with new tyres as long as they can be scrubbed in in the dry. 8)

Are we still aiming for Saturday 3rd as our first choice, with Sunday 4th being an alternative if the weather thwarts us on Saturday.

Some folks may have a fair trek to Wetherby, would a decision be made early on Saturday morning, whether or not the ride is going ahead and on which day.

I tend to use the BBC weather website, http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2634217, but perhaps again we could post some "live casts" from our locations.

Soapy water test or remove the wheel and stick it in the bath!

^^
Should be able to get fairly accurate forecasts on Friday. The BBC get their forecasts from the Met Office and the latter have a good animation showing where and when the rain is likely to be. Shall we say confirmation on here by 0800 Saturday am? (although fairly confident by Friday night in most situations). Personally not too concerned either way (new tyres wouldn't help) unless it's a monsoon but other people may have alternate views. Would be helpful to know in coming to a consensus.

As regards the tyre, have checked the valve seat on the rim and the valve core, both seem ok. Not much good at the home mechanics (horses for courses) but would certainly try a plug if I could find somewhere to stick it!

That's OK with me, however, Mike may need a little more notice, he is 2 hours from Wetherby.

Easy way to find a pinhole leak in your motorcycle tire, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wskeiycziZI

If the hole is as small as this, perhaps a vulcanised patch on the inside would be an alternative to making the hole bigger to fit a plug.
