2012 RT
2012 RT
After earning the hard way when I didn't know the pitfalls of the servo assist brakes and bought our '05 RT sidecar rig ended up having to to a brake-ectomy to eliminate the whole mess.
Considering a 2012 R1200RT and turn to the wisdom of the group on anything special I should be aware of or look out for this model year.
Thanks,
Dave

Sorry to hear about your experience with a 2005 RT.dave y wrote: After earning the hard way when I didn't know the pitfalls of the servo assist brakes and bought our '05 RT sidecar rig ended up having to to a brake-ectomy to eliminate the whole mess.

I had a 2010 and a 2013, so early and late twin cam. The 2010 was really good apart from a few switchgear failures and the 2013 bike was even better with no issues. Both bikes used mainly for extensive trips fully loaded, with & without pillion, around Europe and the Baltic. If it has been well looked after, a 2012 RT should be a very sound buy (IMHO). Good luck !

I have a r1200rt-p 2007, other than a clutch change, it's only used consumables... perhaps the plod bikes were better founded.

Or maybe all the issues I had were cured under warranty, as mine were ....choogh wrote: I have a r1200rt-p 2007, other than a clutch change, it's only used consumables... perhaps the plod bikes were better founded.
