Flagpole attachment

I found and unusual solution to mount a 2 foot by 3 foot flag.  The attachment came from an off road enthusiast who sells attachments for marker flags for dirt bikes.  They can be found at http://www.zenxteninc.com/. The owner Hank was incredibly responsive. I emailed him and asked if he thought his attachment device would work.  He went to the local BMW dealer in Arizona and looked at a display 1200 RT.  He then custom made the grip clamps and sent them to me at no extra charge.  Check out the photos...



I highly recommend this attachment for putting a flag on your RT.  I got the fiberglass pole at the local hardware store and the flag online.

Yep!!  Actually the standard clip or grip is black and rubberized.  The guy did these custom ones on his 3D printer, so they are a hard plastic.  I am more of a function over form kind of guy, unlike my better half.

Ok, I'll ask, why would you want a flagpole on the back of the bike? Is it for when you get somewhere on a rally or something to put it up? Or do you actually ride around with a flag flying  8)

I intend to use if for Patriot Guard escort of remains of veterans.  I imagine on certain holidays it might find its way onto the bike.  It takes all of 20 seconds to install.

Checkout PatriotGuard.org.  It is a volunteer organization, and there is no reason you cannot do the same thing wherever you are.

Not in the UK, we do things differently, we have many volunteer organisations that help veterans, but my comment was more around the public perception to veterans is different here. When Afghanistan was in full flow, all our fallen veterans were repatriated through one airfield and they were all driven through a market town in Wiltshire called Wootton Bassett, but that was a moment in time. That town was given the Royal Charter for their respect and support to the fallen, so the town is now Royal Wootton Bassett.

Now that sounds cool, from a US perspective.  More likely to get a protest here.

Must admit my first reaction to this was 'Why?', but was glad I read on. Respect to you guys for doing the right thing by your veterans - we could do so much better over here. I was lucky enough to join several thousand other bikers on the first 'Afghan Heroes' ride through Wootton Bassett a few years ago. It was intended as a thank you to the locals there as they had turned out to pay their respects each time the soldiers' bodies were repatriated. It was a very moving day.
