These fitting instructions don't show the additional trim strips (2 off).

Got a response from the Motorrad suppler, apparently they are optional and can go on the edges of the guards if you so desire. Very un-German not stating this in the fitting guide ; )

Could never understand these. Originally just for the GSA. Made if nice soft alloy so one small tip and they are destroyed and you can't clean behind them.

Quite, but the pots are exposed to everything and need to be kept as crap free as possible. It's a bit like that with the OEM LC ones but at least they are made of stainless steel.

Well, all so called crash bars would only protect you from very slow speed spills. Preferably 0 mph ones. Try to imagine what would happen to the frame (and with R1200RT engine is an integral part of said frame) if crash bars actually hold when crash happens at speed. Replacing head covers + guards is much cheaper then trying to fix the geometry and replace the engine. No sir, thank you.
