My 2016 R1200RT report
Re: My 2016 R1200RT report
I have a Zumo 660 that fits the BMW cradle on the bike and works, however it will not work with the bikes GPS menu controls to zoom in/out etc. I also ware contacts and can not see the screen very well at all due to the distance from me to the dash of the bike and there seems to be horrible glare on the GPS screen too. I bought a pair of sun glasses years ago with built in readers and it worked perfect on the K1300s but I had the GPS installed in the center of the handle bars so all I had to do is move my eyes down to see the GPS perfectly, since the GPS cradle is up and farther away on this bike the sun glasses with the readers built in work only if I tilt my head up towards the sky. May have to resort to wearing my RX glasses on trips using the GPS? Also installed a new Adaptiv mount for my radar detector which was on the K bike. I do not like it because it stick up in the air so much, may have to rethink the whole speeding down the highway thing but will see.
So far I just love this bike, plenty of power, handles very well, and oh so comfy.

The wheel will only work with the BMW Navigator IV and V. They are Garmin produced but have different software. The screen on the 660 is a lot less bright than the V but no screen will be perfect with direct sunlight on it.
Re: My 2016 R1200RT report
I have a 660 as well and it works reasonably well except with the sun at certain angles hitting the screen. I paired a SENA blue tooth to it so only glance at the screen to check if the junction is a little complex or roads close together. Worked brilliantly on a trip to Lucca, Italy when it found two places to a few yards by the GPS co-ordinates, much better than postcodes.
thanks and regards, Ganesh

Did the same, bought for retitement in about 4/5 years. So far we like the bike, getting ready to do the first service myself. Bought oil/filter and washer, have 575 on her 100.00 at dealer.

Re: My 2016 R1200RT report
Finally got the 600 mile service done ($247 USD). Hope everyone is doing well in the new year. looking forward to piling on the miles now. this bike is amazing, the electronic's package is fantastic, it will take some getting used to since I have ridden a sport bike for 20 years. been doing figure 8's in a parking lot trying to get used to the fly by wire and bulk of the bike. the K1300S was a fighter jet this feels like a 747 however as the miles go by I am really starting to enjoy it. Cruse control and rider modes are fantastic. I still find my self over dressing for the ride this time of year due to the cold weather and not thinking about the wind protection the R1200RT provides. Only issue I have is when in heavy traffic on the highway and in windy conditions there is allot of buffeting and I have to adjust the wind screen just right to avoid it, thank god for the adjustable wind screen.
Stay safe everyone

Got the radar detector mounted and hooked up today, my gosh I thought the K1300s was a pain to take apart this is just as much a pain to take faring parts off. First time is scary removing screws, unplugging stuff and matching up the fasteners with the right hole. Any how all done time to go ride real fast... :silence:

Re: My 2016 R1200RT report
UPDATE: Hello everyone hope you all are well these days. Had to have the water pump replaced at the 6000 mile service have over 9000 miles on it now and it looks like it is starting to leak again will have to watch it.
QUESTION? My bike is pulling to the right any ideas why it might be doing that, I found this out a month or so ago with the cruse control on and took my hands slightly off the bars to relax and wham the bike wants to fall to the right so I am constantly having to push and pull on the bars to keep it straight, really sucks defeats the purpose of having cruse control and to be able to relax on the ride at highway speed cruising.

Front is still original and looks to be wearing improperly and uneven
