Gopro/other suction mounts

hi folks
Recently purchased a GoPro style camera for an upcoming trip to the picos
Have tried various mounting points but with little success due to the renowned rt vibration
Any tips?
I have heard that the suction mount is very good. Anyone any experience?

The suction mount is very good - although I will admit to still being too nervous to use it for any extended period of time.


In regards of other options, I have fitted a mounting plate onto the top of the l-hand wing mirror housing. I use it mainly for shots back towards myself and I haven't had any significant problem with vibration. If you check out the video below you will be able to see my Hero 5 Session mounted on the wing mirror, and footage of me shot with the camera (no obvious vibration).

Most of my forward facing video is shot with a helmet-mounted camera, but that's because I found the fixed point of view didn't work for what I needed.

I use the GoPro suction mount attached to my screen mostly. My GoPro has vibration reduction so do not notice any shaking in the videos.


The suction mount allows you to attach to a few different surfaces. I've even had it pointing backwards from the top of my top box. The suction feels very secure when attached right but I always use a safety line just in case.

I just did a 9 day trip and I mounted the camera on the front just with one of the standard mounts (the slightly curved one). Exact same place as where the antenna is but on the other side. Worked out perfectly. You can see in the picture how I have it mounted. Also very easy to turn on or off from that location. I used the watch that came with it to actually operate the camera, worked very slick.
Also, here is the video of my trip so you can see what it looks like from the camera.

Wow, that was an awesome GoPro video...watched it from start to finish! Utah is one of the most awe-inspiring places I've ever ridden.  I recognized a spot at 6 min 44 sec. of your video. I took a picture there a couple of years ago. Thanks to everyone for the GoPro mounting tips/ideas.

thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Great picture! Like you said, Utah is absolutely amazing, seems after every turn there is something new to look at. Red Canyon, where your picture was taken was one of my favorite areas, so cool.
