Garmin Express Update - 5.6.1.0

I have just downloaded & installed 5.6.2.0.

It installed without an issue.

Does anyone know what the purpose/reason is for all the GE updates.

Have emailed Garmin, will see what they come up with.

Hi my issue with Garmin Express update V5.6.1.0 not launching once downloaded and installed on Windows Vista has been resolved. I found a version called  5.5.1.0 on the link:

when I downloaded, it installed and launched a V5.5.0.0 which runs fine on Windows Vista. Hope this might help those whose software has not yet made it to Windows 7 or higher.

The question I asked Garmin was, "What is the purpose/reason for the GE updates, if GE is not updated, would this affect the ability to update maps in the future."

The Garmin reply was, "It will not affect your ability to update."

Although Garmin haven't answered the question about GE updates, they've confirmed that map updates will still be available.

Latest reply from Garmin, "Essentially they are improving our software and adding new features, it was only recently that we added the ability to download new maps (new purchased maps that is) and safety cameras directly through Express."
