2012 Parking light r&r

Post by arkmark »

trying to figure out the easiest way to get to the parking lights on my 2012.  I've found people saying you get access through removing the mirrors but I'm leaning towards something on the 2012 is different than previous models as I tried removing my mirror and that didn't get me in far enough to reach that little bulb.  Thanks for the help.

Looking at the RT Rider's Manual, http://www.kali.hu/motor/bmw-r1200rt/le ... l_2010.pdf page 127 describes how to replace parking-light bulb.

The mirror does not need to be removed. The flashing turn indicator with fairing panel needs to be removed, page 132.

Hi, it's a ten minute job to change both sidelight bulbs. You simply need to remove the torx bolt behind the mirror pane which will remove the indicator panel. Them you can reach in and twist the side light housings via the little tab on them which will release the housing from the headlight area. I hope this makes sense.

2005 R1200RT Side light bulbs replacement

Post by storminnorman »

Following the post for a 2012 front side light bulb replacement I followed the instructions, which were applicable to my 2005 RT. It was absolutely spot on as once the mirror housing is prised off and the two torx screws holding the small mirror fairing removed there is a hole to get in to the side light bulb as well as the indicator bulb. Much appreciated and thanks again.
