Two round trips in a day between Boston and Queens. 800 miles of absolute bliss (J) on a 1987 Hurricane.

That was almost 30 years ago.

I surely wouldn't want to do that today to my (50+ year old) body, even on a cush ride like an RT!

Not sure I'm qualified to comment here, but having only just got on a bike again after nearly 40 years my biggest distance is (no laughing at the back) 100 miles. I have to concentrate so hard I'm very tired after that, and notice my observation, gear changes and slow riding start to suffer. When you return to it, everything is new, so you're consciously calculating the whole time which drains the mental batteries pretty quickly, although physically I feel strong. I suspect the key is to know your limits and build stamina slowly?

Did 250 miles Monday evening/Tues Morning on duty. Got to say it was hissing down, but the Rukka gear did a grand job. Last year, did 700 miles in one day, bum was a little sore though :)

1000 miles (well, OK, 982, actually).  Last day of 8,000 miles coast-to-coast-to-coast (Pacific/Gulf/Atlantic/Pacific) summer tour on a Honda Magna V65 1100cc (liquid-cooled) in 2000.  Was really disappointed that Montana had auto-banned its no daytime speed limit policy, but in Nevada was getting passed by Hyundai's doing over 100 mph!!  Cranked it to 115 mph for the whole state (with a brief flirtation with 140 mph).  My butt was steel-hard from the long tour, and I'd set up the bike so I could recline against my load on the pillion seat, so it was like sitting in a reclining armchair.  Previous bests were 850 and 780 miles in a day.  Couldn't have done any of the above on my RT until I effectively moved the left handlebar grip back about four inches by affixing a bent piece of steel bar so I can lean back against my load.  If you have lower back problems, I recommend this highly.  The RT's position reminds me of your Mom telling you to mind your posture and sit up straight!

I remember riding from Zeebrugge to Circuit Paul Ricard for the Bol d'Or in the late '80s on a Kawasaki GPZ900R.
That was a long day - clocked over 700 miles in 13 hours (90mph cruising was tolerated / encouraged in those days !  ;) ).
