There's no doubt that I'm not alone in feeling slightly "Ripped Off" when it comes to paying over £100 to a BMW Dealer for a set of Front Pads for the RT. This feeling has just been reinforced, when yesterday I became the proud owner of a Pair of Brembo Front Discs and a set of Brembo Pads for my Skoda Yeti 2.0 Tdi. When you see the amount of metal in the car Discs and the thickness of the Pads I can' but wonder just how Brembo can do it. Total cost £70.66. That price did include a good discount from Euro Car Parts but who pays full list price for such items.
No doubt some will say that it,s all down to quantity production but the difference is astounding to me.

Unfortunate fact of life, most things with a brand have at least a 20% uplift. I had the same with my old Audi, the EBC discs and pads that are the OEM suppliers were 30% less than the same ones with the Audi brand and recommended by the ex-Audi tech. The only downside with bike bits are more specialised and variants so tricky making sure it's the right part. Replaced the pistons on the front with BMW calipers I had no options on alternative parts so had to stick to BMW as it could have been an OEM or a supplier like Brembo, Tokico etc.
The only check to make on parts is where they were made, as quality does vary depeding on sourcing factory for the manufacturer, Thailand, Hungary, Turkey, Poland etc.

But we use Sherlock for the pads on our BMW Blood Bikes, if you have Brembo callipers, then Brembo pads should be ok, from Bembo. If you speak to Sherlocks they ask whether its a Brembo calliper or a BMW branded calliper and supply the correct pads. If fitted some of their pads to my 2014 bike and can confirm it stops fine.

For the 2012 TC RT, Brembo (Official Website) only offer pads from the Performance & Premium ranges, their "suggested" replacement is Road - SA, Product code: 07BB26.SA.
"This is a sintered compound, specific for front application, characterised by excellent efficiency in all conditions of use.
It therefore represents an ideal alternative to original brake pads, both when cold and when hot."
For the 2017 LC RT, Brembo offer pads from Racing, Performance, Premium & Genuine ranges.
In the Genuine range, there are two options, Brembo "suggest" Genuine - Sinter ( 84 ), Product code: 07BB38.84.
"Selected by motorcycle manufacturers, this is the sintered material developed by Brembo as OEM equipment.
The cases where the catalogue code corresponds exactly to the material used on the specific application are highlighted in the catalogues you will find at your local dealer."
Based on the above, for my TC, I'll stick to the BMW OEM pads, an equivalent replacement is not available.
However, if it were an LC, then the Brembo "Genuine" range would seem to be the same as BMW OEM pads in construction.

I bought a 'genuine' Renault alternator many years ago, I peeled the nice shiny label off out of curiosity only to reveal a 'Lucas' label underneath, doh! The 'non' genuine Lucas one was £30 cheaper at the car spares shop, hey ho, you live and learn.
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)

Had a similar problem, big time, years ago with boat engines. Basically marinised V8s with some parts identical with car parts. Did the spares department mention that? - not a chance. Talk about rip off. Mind you, paled into insignificance when compared to fuel costs; over 2 litres per mile or to mix metaphors, about 15 galls per hour at full chat (45 -50 knots). Happy days!
