Muffler noise (more) withoput changing to Remus etc

Post by surferseagull »

Hi

My newly purchased 2009 RT makes almost no exhaust noise. Bike shop told me that could be bored out to allow a little more.  I don't want to go to expense of swapping to aftermarket and aren't looking for Harley loud - has anyone had work done on the standard muffler and is the end result a pleasing rumble??

thanks

Before modifying your exhaust, it might be a good idea to hear some others that have been modified. Either stock or aftermarket. Then decide if that is a sound you like.......

On the 2012 TC, would removing the "Exhaust Flap" have any or the desired effect.

I've usually got ear plugs in & my lid on when the bikes are fired up, therefore can't say I've noticed any difference.

Removing the exhaust should do the trick, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8IrWoiPFhQ

The stock muffler is to quite for my taste. The louder the better for me. Thinking about adapting this. Do not want to mess with the flap valve (removal). Just want more noise. Motorcycles are supposed to be fast, mean and LOUD!

Interesting statement! Looking at your signature, I see the two loudest bikes are slower than the fastest and most quiet one..........

Yes! That's correct, both Harley's are extremely loud on purpose. Now my fastest one can not be the quite one! If is faster than her stable siblings also needs to be the loudest one.

So the 'loud' is for the benefit of whom?

UPDATE:

I removed the muffler and install a exhaust tip. Big difference but still not as loud as the Harley's but I am happy wit the outcome and the looks. The rear tire is more visible in all it's glory.
