Re: RT (Twin Cam) - Air Filter Replacement
Checked the Air Filter whilst the panels were off, although the Service Interval is every 12,000 miles, the Filter was quite dirty after just over 3 years & 6,860 miles.
Decided to replace the Filter as they are not that expensive.

A BMW Air Filter costs £19.75, OPIE Oils do one for £10.99 + £2.75 P&P, http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-89201-mahle ... -part.aspx,DaygloDavid wrote:Decided to replace the Filter as they are not that expensive.
a saving of £6.01, I know where I'll be buying my next one from.
The BMW Part No. is 13.71.7.706.414, this checks out with the MAHLE No. of LX 984/5.

Re: RT (Twin Cam) - Air Filter Replacement
I got two for £20.14 (with free delivery) from Amazon.
Exactly the same as the original BMW one, albeit cheaper. Thanks for the tip David.
My bike has only done 5,000 miles, but as you can see, it was quite dirty.

It can't be the same, hasn't got BMW on it and it's half the price.Sullivj wrote:Exactly the same as the original BMW one, albeit cheaper.

Re: RT (Twin Cam) - Air Filter Replacement
I put a Mahle filter in mine when I serviced it over winter, It had a MWR one in it when I bought the bike.
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)

Re: RT (Twin Cam) - Air Filter Replacement
I'm looking to purchase either a Mahle LX984/5 or Hi-flo HFA7914 air filter, can anyone recommend a supplier, (I don't use ebay).
Found this HFA7914 on Amazon, https://www.amazon.co.uk/B%C3%9CSE-HFA7 ... ds=hfa7914
Have ordered two Hi-flo HFA7914 air filters for less than the price of one from BMW (£22.92).

The two air filters arrived today, how's that for next day delivery.David. wrote:Have ordered two Hi-flo HFA7914 air filters for less than the price of one from BMW (£22.92).
This is what it says on the box,
"Hi-flo air filters are specifically designed to be a direct replacement for the OE filter.
To maintain your motorcycle's peak performance it is advisable to replace your air filter regularly, preferably at the same time you change your oil filter."
The BMW service interval is every 12,000 miles, based on the above, plus from experience & cost, I'll change the air filter around every 6,000 miles.

Re: RT (Twin Cam) - Air Filter Replacement
It gets even better, found a new supplier, can get a HFA7914 air filter for £5.93, that's nearly 75% cheaper than a BMW one.David. wrote:Have ordered two Hi-flo HFA7914 air filters for less than the price of one from BMW (£22.92).
