what would the best tire selection be? Looking for an all weather tire with good handling.

Re: Best Tires??
For me that would be Michelin Pilot Road 4. Great in all conditions. They have just released the Road 5 but I believe that will not be available in GT form (to suit the RT) for another year or so.
Right I'm off to hide behind the sofa; 'What tyres' always gets 'em going.

+1 for the PR4. Yes, the PR5 GT for the RT won’t be around until 2019, but I’m very pleased with the PR4s performance overall so that delay doesn’t really bother me.
Re: Best Tires??
I've found the Metzeler Roadtec01 to feel better and last better than the Michelin PR4.

+2 on the Pilot Road 4. I'm on my second set. 3rd set of tires on this bike. They are great in all conditions. No falling into corners like some others. Great wearability. I think I pushed my previous set to close to 14k miles. Rode these one from Oregon to DC and back with no issues. My next set will be PR4.

BMW Motorrad recommend the following tyres for a 2011 RT.2011r1200rt wrote:What would the best tyre selection be?
Bridgestone Battlax BT 021, Continental Road Attack, Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart, Metzeler Roadtec Z6 or Z8 & Michelin Pilot Road 2.
This poll of tyres fitted to RT's might help with the decision of which tyre most folks like on their bike, https://1200rt.com/viewtopic.php?t=7
On a 2012 RT, I'm using Dunlop Roadsmarts.

Good old Dunlop Roadsmart, Great all round tyre and at around £170 a pair plus fitting, very good deal.
Up-date. £40 Cashback on the Roadsmart 3 at the moment.

That poll was taken for the K26 NOT the K52. That is why it is so important on every post to say what bike you have.
Each bike will use tyres differently (even ignoring road surface, riding style and atmospherics).

The Metzeler Z8 has stood the test of time for both the K26 & K52 RT's & remains recommended by BMW Motorrad for both models.

Re: Best Tires??
I wonder if BMW Motorrad get any money for recommending a particular brand/type of tyre?
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)

I suspect it reduces the price BMW pay for tyres fitted to bikes rolling off the production line.

Re: Best Tires??
How much do BMW dealers charge to supply tyres when the factory fitted ones require replacing.
