Well I can't answer that as I don't have one.
Of course, the Akropovic isn't stainless.

All RT exhausts pipes are stainless front to back.  The ones that have been chromed norms.ly stay shiny except for the header pipes that tend to blue.  If they are just the stainless ones they will discolour.  None of them should corrode though.

For what it’s worth I much preferred the non chromed headers. Much easier to keep looking good with “Scotchbrite” and elbow grease. Our present Twincam has the chromed headers which require nearly constant attention. Incidently when we first got the bike (with around 3000 miles on the clock) there was considerably rust and pitting of the headers under the engine. Took me ages to bring them back to something like acceptable.

So are you saying that the headers on your bike are steel and NOT stainless steel?

Stainless or not, the headers look crappy shortly after they leave the show room!
Why not make them like other manufacturers, who's headers are nice chromed
for ages?  The can on my 2008 was all rusted under. If SS, then it is of very
poor quality alloy, just like the junk we are getting from China.
Either way, the age of the all around chrome is gone. Most of the tank,
both fenders , rims, headers and mufflers where a must be chrome. Now
they are painted. So why not just ceramic coat the headers, and will have a
clean look for many years? And because the muffler was so bad, i ceramic coated
that too. I think it looks better than chromed, but then again, may be just me.

Being chromed I couldn’t say what they are, although it does seem a bit extravagant to chrome stainless rather then mild steel. There again RT man does seem pretty sure that both types are stainless.

Do you have any pictures temesvar? More the 'finish' than the colour,  I'll be looking into having the Header's Ceramic Coated on mine next winter if I keep it.
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)

Double walled chrome exhaust header pipes are the way forward.
