BMW used double skinned headers on the R1200C. Gave them up after about 4 years along with the bike. They were very heavy, pipes and the bike.

Unlike the BMW R1200C header pipes, the Yamaha ones don't rattle either, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrmHoKNvFZg

Hard to believe, such a nice and expensive bike, with crappy headers like that...David. wrote: Unlike the BMW R1200C header pipes, the Yamaha ones don't rattle either, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrmHoKNvFZg

That certainly reduces the colour change effect. However the weight goes up. Weight is the enemy of most of us. It is also more expensive. You won't see that as a solution from BMW.
