Rear Seat Replacement - i.e. shelf

Post by K/W Motoman »

i want to remove my passenger seat and replace it with a shelf or just a cover. I have seen a Tourtech shelf for the GS but nothing for the RT. Has anyone seen anything like it.

I had the very rack that beemerboy9 linked to above on a 2012RT. It was a very well made piece of equipment that allowed me to carry an additional large cylinder bag on a camping/touring ride.

Only problem is they seem to have gone out of business. Certainly you get no response when you try to contact them and their web site seems to be abandoned.
I have been looking for a similar product for my 2015 RT and may have finally found one. A business called MaPLE Farkles https://maplefarkles.com/index.php used to produce a pillion rack for the 2015 RT but has since handed his designs to Preston Machine and Fabrication LLB http://prestonmachineandfab.com/index.html who is gearing up to start making them. I have been in contact with Prestons and am hoping to get a pillion mounted rack from him.

That's interesting, I rarely carry a pillion so the rack would be very useful, may even be possible to mount the topbox where the pillion seat would be and move the weight in front of the rear axle.
