RS to RT hugger swap.

Post by PhilMill »

Hi all, I've got a new RT on order to replace my RS, I kept the Puig hugger that was fitted to the RS thinking I'd put it on the RT, but having looked at the Puig website the item they show for the RT is very different. It looks like an infill for the frame around the rear wheel as opposed to a small mudguard. Does anybody know if I can fit the RS one, or is the frame area under the plastics different? I also kept my Wunderlich mudsling in case that was a better option but maybe that won't fit either??

Thanks. Phil

Is it possibly the case with the RT that the front section of the rear mudguard (fender) extends beyond the swinging arm and therefore protects the shock absorber from any debris, negating the need for a hugger.

The Puig RT infill panels could be their offering to protect the pillion footrest area from road dirt.

That would be nice, I'll guess I'll have to wait until I got the bike and then I look can look under there and see! it would be nice to think BMW have been that sensible because they certainly weren't with the RS with the whole rear end.

After two years I had a prod in around there when the back wheel was out (RT) and the shock was still pretty clean.  Just as well given how expensive they are if they fail.

Thats good to know, the RS gets then full force of the crap, the hugger only just helps, hence I used a mudsling too while touring.
