Valve adjustment just got a wee bit more complicated.

Re: Cool video of new R1250 engine
I wonder how many years of owner R&D it will take before it's safe to purchase

At least two ... and by then my July 2018 bike might be just be old enough to think about swapping out.Pickaxe wrote: I wonder how many years of owner R&D it will take before it's safe to purchase
Talk about making a guy feel good about his new ride, increase the warranty by 50% less than a week after purchase and then within the month make the bike obsolete. ???

Yes, but you've got a bike at the pinnacle of its development ;D

This is not so much variable as dual shift having two cams per valve that are fixed on the camshaft.

Re: Cool video of new R1250 engine
The full brochure for the R1250RT is interesting. The options and accessories have changed.
It seems the option of a quick shifter is now an individual item rather than being part of a "pack", and there are optional spotlights which can be supplied fitted to the fairing.
If I were to be buying a new bike I think I would give up the quick shifter because, although I use it, I really don't feel it adds anything much. I'm waiting to see all the options priced up and that will probably decide whether I would choose the additional lighting. I like the idea, but probably not enough to pay BMW prices .....

Yes it is.
But ..... if you can afford it and it's what you really want, you can comfort yourself with the fact that there are bikes which cost more and, in some cases, considerably more (and I paid that much for my current bike :silence: )
