The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989, http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989 ... on/13/madeexportman wrote:They may not be legal if used in the UK.
Sounds akin to using hazard warning lights when not stationary.
From the Highway Code, "You MUST NOT use hazard warning lights while driving". Law RVLR reg 27

The Highway Code is for the UK inc. NI, this does not include the Republic of Ireland.
In the R of I, looks like this "Rules of the Road" booklet applies, http://www.rotr.ie/Rules_of_the_road.pdf
Page 42, "The use of flashing lights, with the exception of direction indicators, is solely reserved for Gardaí, ambulance and other designated service vehicles."

Re: Flashing beacons for marshals bikes
Surely orange flashers are only warning lights like tractors machinery etc

In the UK (Highway Code), "vehicles with a maximum speed of 25 mph or less (such as tractors) MUST use a flashing amber beacon". Law RVLR 1989, reg 17.
Don't know if this applies to the R of I.

Perhaps Bike Marshals Ireland could help, http://www.bikemarshals.ie/index.html
RSA.ie might be another source of information, http://rsa.ie/en/

and it goes on to say,David. wrote: From the Highway Code, "You MUST NOT use hazard warning lights while driving". Law RVLR reg 27
You MUST NOT use hazard warning lightswhile driving or being towed unless you are on a motorway or unrestricted dual carriageway and you need to warn drivers behind you of a hazard or obstruction ahead.

Such as yourself filtering (white lining) through the traffic!
In Belgium (different country different rules I know!) it is the standard here that bikes have their hazards on while white lining it.

That would be a BIG 'No No' in the UK.
