Hi and a happy new year to everyone !!!! i am planning to visit the Normandy beaches and museums this year , i live in the UK , and will be travelling on the RTLE , any tips on the best routes and which is the best ferry ? is it into Caen ? any information is welcomed many thanks Russell

This is a useful link. The Portsmouth-Caen ferry is the best for Normandy, and the port is very close to Pegasus Bridge and Cafe which is a good start.

We did the beaches etc in 2002 and took the fast ferry from Portsmouth to Cherbourg (3 hours) and started the tour at Sainte-Mère-Eglise.  Try and get to Honfleur if you have the time.

Did a short tour a while back.  We did Portsmouth - Caen going out and Cherbourg - Portsmouth coming back.  That way you can pick up everything from Caen to St Mere Eglise.  Lots to see!
