Is this for the 1250RT in your signature line? If so, is yours low? Why? If it is, i'd take it to your dealer and sort it. Most bikes never get topped up. It just doesn't disappear. If it does, there is a problem.

My 2017MY RT was low at the first service and was topped up by the dealer.  Now, after 28,000 miles it is just a little low - got a mention at the last service, but didn't get topped up.

This is for a 2014 RT as stated in the OP which is owned by a friend.  When doing an accessory installation we noticed it was slightly low, and wanted to top it off.  I thought just add bmw antifreeze but watched a video that called for using distilled water and antifreeze in a 50/50 mix.  Wanted to get some opinions from others.  It’s 5 years old so I could see a small amount of evaporation with heat and time.

Not unusual for the coolant to be a bit low.  First if it is between the min and max mark it is not low, just not to the full mark.
I went to a BMW car dealer and bought a gallon a few years ago.  I mix 4 oz of distilled water and 4 oz of antifreeze in a pop bottle, fill what needs filled and store the rest.
NEVER use tap water to mix coolant.

Thanks for clarifying that it is for a 2014. For a bike that old to be a little low is fine. For a newer model, after initial top up and adjustment at the 600 mile service it shouldn't be needed. Of course the level does change dependent on temperature, but the bike should NOT consume water. We do know that a (very few) had a tiny weep that generally cleared up as the miles progressed. We hear very little about weeps nowadays.
